Change to part-time study
If it’s all getting a bit too much and you need more time for family, work and the rest of your life, you may be able to change to part-time study – but that depends on the programme you’re studying. Not all AUT programmes have a part-time option.
How do I change to part-time study?
To change from full-time to part-time study, you should talk to your school or faculty, and to the Student Hub to make sure this change doesn’t have a negative impact on your studies or your finances.
Things you need to consider:
Domestic students
Changing to part-time study may have an impact on your StudyLink entitlements (your student loan or allowance) – view how this can impact StudyLink
If you’re on a scholarship, this change could also affect your scholarship eligibility.
International students
If you’re an international student, changing to part-time study could affect your eligibility for a student visa – view how this can impact your student visa
Until when can I change to part-time study?
You can change to part-time study before the enrolment withdrawal date. You can find the exact dates for your course(s) and programme in your course enrolment record in My AUT.
Does this impact my fees?
Yes and it also impacts your StudyLink entitlements. If you’re on a scholarship, this change could also affect your scholarship eligibility.
