Supplying supporting documents

As part of your AUT application you'll be asked to provide certified copies of documents.

All applications to study at AUT require:

  • Proof of name
  • Proof of citizenship

Providing certified academic credentials online

AUT accepts certified academic credentials from selected online verification platforms. This can make your application process quicker and simpler.

Certifying your documents

You may be asked to provide certified copies of documents like your passport, birth certificate or academic transcript.

To prepare your documents:

  • Make a copy of each document
  • Have the copies certified as true
  • Scan and upload the certified copies

Domestic students – who can certify documents

You’ll need to take the original documents and copies with you to:

  • A Justice of the Peace
  • Your local library, if they offer JP services
  • AUT Student Hub at the AUT City, North or South Campus

Our student advisors can certify documents and help you upload them to your My AUT record.

International students – who can certify documents

Certified copies can be completed by:

  • An AUT staff member
  • A Justice of the Peace, barrister or solicitor
  • A Notary Public
  • A Member of Parliament
  • A Registrar or Deputy Registrar of the Courts
  • Your AUT‑approved agent

Scanning your documents

Scan your document and save it as a PDF file. It's a good idea to name your file as the type of document you're uploading, for example yourname-passport.pdf for your passport or yourname-transcript-collegename for your transcript.

Uploading your documents

Ready to upload your documents? You can do this anytime in My AUT. It’s a good idea to have everything saved and named clearly before you start.

How to upload your documents

  • Log into My AUT – use your email and password
  • Go to the My Account tab
  • Select My documents
  • Choose Add document
  • Select the document type you’re uploading, such as passport, birth certificate or academic transcript

Checking your document has uploaded

After you upload a document, you can check it’s been received in My AUT.

You should see your uploaded documents listed here.

Uploading multiple documents

During the initial online application, you can only upload one document. If you need to upload more than one, My AUT makes this easy.

Before uploading multiple documents:

  • Save each document as a PDF
  • Name your files clearly, for example yourname‑passport.pdf or yourname‑transcript‑schoolname.pdf

To upload multiple documents in My AUT:

  • Log into My AUT
  • Go to the My Account tab
  • Select My documents
  • Choose Add document
  • Select the document type, such as tertiary results or CV
  • Upload your document
  • To add more, select Add another document

You can upload up to five documents under each document type.
