Visa processes can be daunting and complicated to navigate. If you’re currently studying at AUT, find out what you need to about student visas, how to renew your visa and where to get support with your visa application.

Contact your country's embassy
Foreign missions are your country’s embassy, high commission or consulate. You can contact your foreign mission if you need assistance while you're in New Zealand or if you can't afford to travel home. You can find contact details on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) website.
Education Code of Practice
AUT abides by the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021. The Code sets out minimum standards of advice and care that you can expect and provides a procedure that you can follow if you have any concerns. Responsibility for pastoral care of international students under the Code is for the duration of enrolment.
NauMai NZ government website
The NauMai NZ website has information and advice for international students in New Zealand, including what is happening in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic. ‘Nau mai’ is a Māori phrase of invitation and welcome.

English language support for current students
If you’re currently studying at AUT as an international student and have English as your second language, you can get additional English language support for help with referencing and academic writing, grammar and vocabulary, as well as general speaking and listening. Tutors are available at both the AUT City Campus and North Campus.

Support from AUTSA and your international student affairs officer
Your student association, AUTSA, can support you with advocacy or connect you into student clubs and communities. AUTSA also has a dedicated international affairs officer.
