Our people

Bobby Yang is an academic staff member in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences. He completed his PhD in Wireless Sensor Network security. His research areas are in network security, wireless sensor networks, computer networks, and cryptography.

Jairo Gutierrez is a Professor in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences. He received a PhD in Information Systems from the University of Auckland in 1997. His current research is on information security, internet of things security, computer networking and cloud computing.

Krassie Petrova is a senior academic staff member in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences. She received her PhD from Auckland University of Technology. Her research interests include mobile business and mobile services, ICT adoption and service science, mobile technologies for education, and information security governance.

Nurul Sarkar is an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences. He received his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering (field of study: wireless communication networks) from the University of Auckland. His current research interest include network protocols, modeling and simulation, performance evaluation; cognitive IoT, vehicular networks, Smart cities, and Tactile Internet.

William Liu received his PhD and Master of Electrical and Computer Engineering (with Distinction) at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. In general, his research interest is in the design and performance evaluation of infrastructures and protocols for packet-oriented networks. He is working especially in the area of network dependability which includes survivability, sustainability and trustworthy computing.

Collaborators

Dr Sayan Ray is currently a Senior Lecturer and Network and Hardware Discipline Leader in the Faculty of Business and Information Technology at Manukau Institute of Technology. He received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Canterbury. His research interests are: 5G networks, vehicle to infrastructure communication, disaster management networks, 3GPP packet core/LTE/WiMAX, Internet of Things. He is part of the supervisory team for ongoing doctoral projects at AUT.

M. Kamruzzaman is a PhD student in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences at AUT. He is working on “Developing a Framework for Managing Traffic Congestion for Base Stations in Post-Disaster Situations”.
Supervisors: Nurul Sarkar and Jairo Gutierrez.

Gaurav Pathak is a PhD student in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences at AUT who is researching on “Authentication and Key Exchange using SDN controller in Internet of Things.”
