Our people

Adnan Al-Anbuky is a Professor in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences at AUT. His research interests are in the areas of wireless sensor networks and WLANs.

Akbar Hossain is an academic staff member in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences. He received his PhD from Auckland University of Technology. His research interests include Cognitive Radio Ad-Hoc Networks, IoT and Telecommunications.

Bobby Yang is an academic staff member in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences. He completed his PhD in Wireless Sensor Network security. His research areas are in network security, wireless sensor networks, computer networks, and cryptography.

Jairo Gutierrez is an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences. He received a PhD in Information Systems from the University of Auckland in 1997. His current research is on network management systems, information security, viable business models for ICT-enable services, pricing of ubiquitous services and quality of service in Internet protocols.

Krassie Petrova is a senior academic staff member in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences. She received her PhD from Auckland University of Technology. Her research interests include mobile business and mobile services, ICT adoption and service science, mobile technologies for education, and information security governance.

María Elena Villapol is an academic staff member in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences. She received her PhD from the University of South Australia, Australia. Her research interests include wireless and mobile networks, QoS, VANETs, networked embedded systems, mobile application development, IoT, cloud computing, network modelling, and petri nets.

Nurul Sarkar is an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences. He received his PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (field of study: wireless communication networks) from the University of Auckland. His current research projects include 24/7 network service provisioning for disaster recovery, cognitive radio ad hoc networks, vehicular ad hoc communications, IoT, and optical networks.

William Liu received his PhD and Master of Electrical and Computer Engineering (with Distinction) at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. In general, his research interest is in the design and performance evaluation of infrastructures and protocols for packet-oriented networks. He is working especially in the area of network dependability which includes survivability, sustainability and trustworthy computing.

Sonia Gul is a research associate in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences. She received her PhD from the Asian Institute of Technology (Bangkok, Thailand). Her research interests include Emergency and/or Disaster Communications, Telecommunications, Wireless Communications, Computer Networks, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and Internet of Things.

Collaborators

Dr Sayan Ray is currently a Senior Lecturer and Network and Hardware Discipline Leader in the Faculty of Business and Information Technology at Manukau Institute of Technology. He received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Canterbury. His research interests are: 5G networks, vehicle to infrastructure communication, disaster management networks, 3GPP packet core/LTE/WiMAX, Internet of Things. He is part of the supervisory team for ongoing doctoral projects at AUT.

Ambreen Memon is a PhD student in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences at AUT. She is currently working on “Sustainable and resilient wireless sensor networks”.

Hanif Deilami is a PhD student in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences at AUT who is researching on “A Migration Framework for Cloud Systems Integrity”.

M. Kamruzzaman is a PhD student in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences at AUT. He is working on “Developing a Framework for Managing Traffic Congestion for Base Stations in Post-Disaster Situations”.

Mohammad (Mohi) Khalili is a PhD student in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences at AUT. He is working on "The effects of gamification on the motivation & engagement levels of research students".

Rashmi Munjal is a PhD student in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences at AUT who is working on “A sustainable Infrastructure for Integrating Wireless and Wired Networks with QoS Constraints."

Salman Naseer is a PhD student working on “Cellular Data Offloading in Delay Tolerant Vehicular Networks using D2D Communications.

Shuaib Memon is a PhD student in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences at AUT. He is working on "Wireless MAC Enhancement to Support QoS and Emergency Traffic in WLANs."
