You can choose to study the Bachelor of Health Science without a major. This is a great way to tailor the degree to your interests and prepare yourself for a wide range of non-clinical careers.

As part of your degree you can include one or two minors from subjects across AUT, or develop skills in subjects like medical interpreting and translation, health administration or health advocacy.

Year 1

Semester 1 courses

In the first semester all students study the same four courses to help you develop an in-depth understanding of general healthcare, learning alongside other health science students.

Semester 2 courses

*If you don't complete the course HPRM604 in Semester 2, you need to complete MAOH701 in Year 3, Semester 1

Year 2

Semester 1 courses

  • Choose three elective or minor courses
  • Plus choose one optional course

Semester 2 courses

  • Choose four elective or minor courses

Year 3

Include a minor in your degree

We recommend that you include a minor as part of your degree. You can choose from a range of minors across AUT - from education, business and health promotion, to history, New Zealand Sign Language and human resource management. Your minor will be listed on your academic transcript when you graduate. Alternatively, we can help you choose individual elective courses.
