Trading room at AUT Business School

The AUT Business School Trading Room features industry leading software and databases, dedicated to research, development and teaching at the Business School.

The trading room opened in early 2020 and houses real-time databases and software, giving students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience using the same tools and techniques used by finance professionals all over the world. With the ability to access and manipulate real-time data, students can learn and understand economic events, and the factors that affect them, better.

Students and teaching: using the trading room to connect to the finance world

As a student, you’ll get a practical learning experience and hands-on experience with the technology that is used in the financial industry.

As an accounting or finance student, you’ll use the trading room in many of your courses. The primary database that you’ll use is EIKON, a product of Refinitiv. You’ll also have access to a virtual trading platform where you can buy and sell instruments using the stock market simulator that provides a real-time trading experience.

Experience with these platforms improves your employability and means you can hit the ground running once you graduate.
