Key Account Manager, Sisecam Automotive Germany GmbH, Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany
Postgraduate Diploma in Global Business

He loves being in contact with people from different cultures and backgrounds, says Yaser Almutaz who came to AUT as an international student from Saudi Arabia and is now working for Sisecam Automotive Germany GmbH in southern Germany.

“As the company’s key account manager, I’m responsible for maintaining strong business relationships with car manufacturers like VW, SEAT and Škoda. We’re supplying customers with car glass that goes directly to the manufacturing lines, as well as spare parts. To ensure business operations run smoothly, I’m in daily communication with our glass factories in seven different countries.”

He is proud of what he has already achieved in his career so far.

“As a salesman, I measure my career success by the size of my annual sales. This number shows me the size of the accounts I’m responsible for and it is proof that the business is running smoothly.”

An inspiring journey
He may now be living on the other side of the world, but Yaser still has fond memories of his time at AUT in New Zealand.

“Communicating with people from different backgrounds and cultures has been always my passion, therefore I decided to complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Global Business. When I was exploring my study options, AUT offered the best course as it covered theory and practice at the same time.”

His study journey was inspiring, he says.

“It pushed me to get out of my comfort zone. My highlights would be finding the calmness in a corner of the busy campus to finish up some of the course assignments before deadlines. The time pressures the programme offered at times were very similar to the real workplace.”

Advice for other students
Yaser, who graduated from AUT in 2016, has some great advice for other students who are only at the start of their university journey.

“Complete your assignments with passion, even if you sometimes feel that it’s not going to add anything to your learning process.

“These assignments have been chosen by the best professors and experts in each and every field, and adding value to the learning process is a priority for them.”
