Information for new residents

Nau mai, haere mai, we can’t wait to welcome you to the Akoranga Student Village (ASV) for 2025.

Please familiarise yourself with the information below regarding what you need to organise prior to your arrival, our online education modules, what to expect when arriving, and information regarding our Student Medical Centre.

  • What’s included and what to bring: Information can be found on page 16 of our Student Accommodation Handbook.
  • Rooming: We are finalising room allocations, which you will be able to  see in the portal. Please note that the allocations are subject to change. You will find out your confirmed room allocation on arrival. We try to meet the room preferences you gave us when applying, however, please be aware that this may not always be possible.
  • Social accounts: Important information is always sent to you via email, however, we also use social media for our informal communications and event updates. Please request to join our ASV 2025 Facebook page and follow us on Instagram @asvcommunity_aut
  • International arrivals: If, due to your international flights, your arrival at ASV is likely to be outside of reception open hours (9am to 7pm, Monday to Friday), we suggest you consider staying the night at an airport hotel and then arriving at ASV the following day. For weekend check-ins between 9am and 6pm please call the duty phone upon arrival at ASV Village and one of our team will respond. For weekend check-ins outside the above times we suggest you stay the night at the airport hotel. This way, we can properly greet you and help you get settled in.
  • House rules and resident handbook: These provide important information about our accommodation facilities and your new home. They can be found here, and we encourage you to take the time to read them before your arrival.

These modules are designed to support your transition to accommodation community life. As per your residential agreement, these modules are compulsory and must be completed before you arrive at the AUT student accommodation. You will receive an email from Canvas (your home for course materials as a student at AUT) with access to these modules.

Logging into Canvas

Your login name and password for Canvas will be the same as for logging into the My AUT dashboard and AUT computers.  Your AUT network login would have been provided to you in your email invitation for Orientation. Check your emails for this information.

  • Our address: Akoranga Student Village (AUT North Campus)
42 Akoranga Drive, Northcote, Auckland 0627
  • Parking: Short term parking is available onsite, however we do recommend unloading all your items and then parking across at the North Campus carpark.
  • On arrival: On arrival, please report to reception. The team will take a picture of you for our records, double-check your information, and issue you your room access. They will then take you on a tour of our common spaces and show you to your room.
  • Village wifi: To connect to wifi at AUT Accommodation, you will use your AUT network login. You would have received these details in an email from our Orientation team. If you are unsure, please contact the Student Hub on 0800 288 864 or +64 9 921 9779 (international calling rates apply) or studenthub@aut.ac.nz

The AUT Student Medical Centre is a general practice clinic available to AUT students that offers a range of medical services with registered professionals. Enrolling with the practice is easy.

Enrol at the Student Medical Centre

We encourage all students new to student accommodation be protected against measles, mumps & rubella, as well as meningococcal A, C, W, Y, and meningococcal B.  If you haven't already been vaccinated or are unsure, talk to your GP or book an appointment with the nurse at AUT Student Medical Centre on 09 921 9992.

Accommodation residents can avail allocated parking space for their registered car(s) and pay by semester ($390)  or shorter terms if available. This service is offered by KiwiPark and is independent of AUT and ASV Student Accommodation.

Once you purchase a parking space, a member of the Kiwi Park team will contact you with a confirmation via email. For casual parking, use the KiwiPark app. Download via App Store or Google Play.
