The Quantitative Accounting Research Network (QARN) will be hosting a combined Symposium and Consortium at AUT, proudly supported by AFAANZ. The morning session will feature paper presentations by PhD students. The afternoon session will feature paper presentations and is open to presenters at any academic level.

PhD students are invited to submit a document at any stage including proposal, a working paper with preliminary results or a full working paper. Students are encouraged to present at QARNs multiple years throughout their PhD. PhD students will be assigned a senior academic mentor from a different institution to provide detailed feedback on both their paper and their presentation.

Schedule

The tentative schedule for the Symposium/Consortium is as follows:

  • 9.30-10.00 - Registration
  • 10.00-11.00 - PhD presentations – Session 1
  • 11.00-11.30 - Morning tea
  • 11.30-1.00 - PhD presentations – Session 2
  • 1.00-1.45 - Lunch
  • 1.45-2.15 - Extended Lunch/Early career mentoring
  • 2.15-3.15 - Keynote presentation: Publishing Literature Reviews
  • 3.15-3.30 - Break
  • 3.30-4.30 - Paper presentations
  • 4.30-5.30 - Drinks

About the keynote

Professor Ahsan Habib from Massey University has published extensively on financial accounting, auditing and corporate governance in prestigious journals. He has published systematic literature reviews and meta-analyses in Abacus, Accounting & Finance, International Journal of Auditing, Journal of International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation, Managerial Auditing Journal,and Research in Accounting Regulation.

Who can attend?

The Symposium/Consortium is open to all academics and PhD students who have an interest in quantitative accounting research. There is no cost to attend. If you would like to attend.
