Neurological disorders are now the leading cause of disability worldwide, and the second leading cause of deaths.
AUT is hosting a one-day Global Brain Summit to celebrate the launch of a special edition of The Lancet Neurology and address the important health issue of neurological disorders. We are delighted to announce that the summit will be opened by New Zealand’s Minister of Health, the Hon. Dr. David Clark.
The upcoming special edition of The Lancet Neurology is devoted to a series of papers on the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study’s estimates of the burden of neurological disorders. The GBD study is the largest study of its kind in the world, and the resulting data provides the World Health Organization and governments worldwide with vital national and global information.
We look forward to welcoming international experts and officials from the Asia-Pacific region’s Ministries of Health and executives of international organisations including the World Health Organization, World Stroke Organization, World Federation of Neurology, National Institutes for Health (USA), the Global Burden of Disease study, and The Lancet to Auckland to learn about current burden of neurological disease estimates.
Participation is by invitation only.
Check out information on planning your visit, including details about getting here, accommodation and exploring Auckland.
