Memories of AUT
Pooja – who came to Auckland as an international student to complete a Master of Professional Accounting – says choosing AUT for her studies was easy.
“After previously completing a bachelor’s degree in law, I knew that I wanted to pursue accounting and AUT was one of the best universities offering this degree. I enjoyed my studies, and am especially grateful for the support of Dr Ranjana Gupta, my taxation lecturer and supervisor for my applied professional accounting project. She always motivated me to do better and made me realise how much I actually like taxation.”
She also had a number of proud achievements related to her studies.
“While I was studying at AUT, I also completed an AUT Edge Award and received an award from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). After completing my Master of Professional Accounting, I did my Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification in record time, which is another achievement I’m especially proud of.”
Advice for other students
Having completed her Master of Professional Accounting in 2017, Pooja has some great advice for other students who are only at the start of their own university journey.
“My advice is to make as many connections as possible and attend all events available to you at university.”
This is especially important if you’re an international student, she adds.
“Making connections was the highlight of my time at AUT. As an international student it was very difficult to settle at first, but the various events at AUT made this easier.”
