The AUTEC Secretariat

The AUTEC Secretariat consists of the Executive Manager, the Research Ethics Advisor, and the Executive Officer (Research Ethics)

The Executive Manager is the Executive Secretary of AUTEC and is the person to contact when you:

  • have concerns regarding the conduct of research;
  • need advice about ethical issues.

The Kaitohutohu Matatika Rangahau |The Research Ethics Advisor is responsible for the provision of advisory support to researchers, AUTEC and the University about research ethics and is the person to contact when you need:

  • advice about ethical issues;
  • formative feedback on applications beforethey are considered by AUTEC;
  • assistance with or to respond to an AUTEC decision;
  • to arrange a workshop or seminar for researchers or students about ethics.

The Chair of AUTEC

The Chair of AUTEC is responsible for chairing AUTEC's meetings and making decisions in accordance with AUTEC's delegated authorities.

The current Chair is Professor Kate Diesfeld

AUTEC faculty representatives

The Dean of each Faculty is responsible for appointing a suitably qualified member of staff to act as the Faculty's Representative on AUTEC.  These representatives are responsible for representing their faculty's interests on AUTEC and vice versa, and assisting researchers within their faculty with the preparation of their ethics applications. They are:
