Initiative to address interpreter demand
AUT’s School of Language and Culture is offering six scholarships for the Graduate Certificate in Arts (Interpreting), targeted at speakers of identified rare languages in New Zealand. The languages identified include but are not limited to Bengali, Fiji Hindi, Malay, Portuguese, Samoan and Tongan.
The AUT Government Partnership Graduate Certificate in Arts (Interpreting) Scholarship is a collaboration between AUT, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment and Ministry of Justice as part of the cross-government Language Assistance Services Project.
The initiative focuses on increasing the number and skill level of rare language interpreters, with post study career opportunities including high demand interpreting roles in the New Zealand government sector.
The scholarship covers full tuition fees and student levies.
