From India to Auckland. Here's how it went

Making the move to study in Auckland is a big decision. Hear from people who've already taken it.

One of the most defining aspects of my experience was working on campaigns within industries I’m passionate about. This introduced me to viral marketing, consumer psychology, marketing architecture and MarTech tools. Another key highlight was my early exposure to a completely new market.

I especially appreciated the warm, inclusive environment that made me feel part of the AUT community from day one. Participating in the Shadow a Leader programme was a standout experience. Sitting in boardrooms and watching high-level discussions unfold added a new dimension to my classroom learning.

As an international student, I was unaccustomed to the method of studying in New Zealand. The lecturers were so patient and helped me navigate my studies successfully. Now that I’m teaching I can see the connections to what I learned at AUT every single day.

My programme included several applied components. One of the most significant was the applied finance project where our team analysed real financial data and presented our findings to industry judges. The BlackBull trading competition was another key practical component where we applied trading and risk management concepts.

What I liked about AUT is that it places a strong emphasis on practical learning. One of the highlights for me was working with one of my professors on his research project for the treatment of sleep apnea patients.

The highlight of studying at AUT was the opportunity to connect with the industry. I had the opportunity to work with the New Zealand International Convention Centre team for one of my courses. I also interned at Tourism New Zealand as part of my workplace experience.
