To study at AUT, you need to meet AUT’s minimum entry requirements for your chosen programme. Because of competition for places in some programmes, you may need to have more than the minimum entry requirements for admission to some programmes.
The information below outlines the minimum entry requirements for different types of programmes you can study at AUT. It is important that you check the relevant programme page on the AUT website to see if there are additional requirements you need to meet.
Diplomas (equivalent to New Zealand Year 12)
- Higher secondary certificate (standard xii), minimum 60%
Bachelor’s degree (equivalent to New Zealand Year 13)
- 2 years of schooling with an overall average of 75% in four academic subjects, including a mininimum 60% in English from All-India Senior Certificate (AISSC) - Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CBSC), or Indian School Certificate (ISC) - Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), or Indian State Boards - Karnataka, Maharashtra or West Bengal State Board Examinations
- All other Higher Secondary State Board Examinations require an overall average of 80% in four academic subjects with a min 65% in English
Postgraduate programmes
- Entry requirements vary - you can find entry requirements for each postgraduate programme on the relevant programme page on the AUT website
- Minimum entry requirements are generally a successfully completed bachelor’s degree in the same area of study from a recognised university
- For some programmes you also need to prepare a research proposal or portfolio
