Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation is a smoke free building. Smoking is not allowed anywhere within the building including the outdoor common area. Any guest found smoking in the building will be charged $100 fine. If the fire alarm is activated due to negligence, the cost of any false alarm call-out fees charged by Fire & Rescue NZ (which is a minimum of $1,150.00 at the time of printing) will be passed on to you.
Guests will be required to make full payment before arrival.
Guests will also be required to provide photo ID at check-in.
The below person accepts responsibility for all charges incurred while staying at Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation and agrees to comply with the Terms and Conditions.
1. Room: Subject to the terms and conditions of this agreement, the person named on the front page (“You”) is entitled to occupy the room allocated to them by the Auckland University of Technology from the time of check-in on the date of arrival until the time of check-out on the date of departure. You may use the common areas for their intended purpose in common with other occupants.
2. Operator as agent: Auckland University of Technology may appoint (or may have appointed) an operator as its agent to manage this agreement on behalf of the University.
3. Check-in: You will be required to provide photo ID on check-in. As well as photo will be taken of you upon check in so Mayoral Drive staff are able to identify you throughout your stay with us.
4. Your liability: You must pay for the cost of repairing any damage You cause to the room, furniture, or the common areas. You are also liable for all expenses, cost, fees, charges, and damages incurred by you and any guest and visitors You invite to your room including any injury or property damage you or they cause.
5. Nuisance: You must not create any noise or nuisance in or around the room or any common areas that is likely to interfere with the peaceful enjoyment of any other occupants, any neighbours, or the public. You are required to honour our quiet hours that go into effect from 10pm to 8am every night.
6. No smoking: You must not smoke any substances or do anything illegal in the Room or in the building, including the outside areas of the building.
7. Security, locks, and keys: You must immediately report the loss or damage of any door lock keys and/or security access cards to reception. Under no circumstances will You permit doors to be kept unlocked or windows left open to allow casual visitors or intruders to gain access to your room or the building. Mayoral Drive is not responsible for any theft or damage to any of the parts, equipment or contents of your property.
8. Fire safety and emergencies: Under no circumstances will you remove, interfere with, tamper, or obstruct any smoke alarm, fire exit sign, fire door, fire extinguisher, evacuation plan or any other fire protection equipment within the room or any part of the building. You are responsible and liable to pay the emergency services callout fee (which is a minimum of $1,150.00 at the date of this agreement) for a call out triggered by you or your guest or visitor.
9. Departure obligations: On or before the date you are required to depart the room under this agreement You must remove any property belonging to You from the room, return all keys, swipe cards and any form of security devices to the room and vacate the room and the building. If you do not vacate the room as required, then you may be required to pay to the accommodation an overstay fee on demand by the accommodation. If this falls out of the dates of which Mayoral Drive and AUT has agreed upon (27th Nov 2023 till 7th Dec 2023).
10. Accommodation’s liability and indemnity: You agree to use the room, the common area and other parts of the building and its services at your own risk. The accommodation takes no responsibility for items left in the rooms after You vacate the room, and you acknowledge that the accommodation may dispose of any personal items including food items that are left in the room. The accommodation is not responsible for any injury or illness which you suffer or sustain or any loss or damage cause to your property of any nature. You release the accommodation from, and indemnify the accommodation against all actions, claims and demands of any kind and from all liability which may arise in respect of any accident or damage to property or injury to or death of any person in or the vicinity of the Room or the building except to the extent that any accident or damage to property or injury or death is caused by the accommodation’s wilful or negligent act or omission.
