Te Kete – AUT's strategy to 2030
Te Kete is AUT's strategic plan. It sets out where we're heading as Aotearoa New Zealand's university of technology and opportunity, and how we'll get there, through to 2030.
Drawn from the structural integrity of raranga (weaving) and the oral narrative of Tāne-nui-a-Rangi ascending to the heavens to acquire Ngā Kete o te Wānanga (the three baskets of knowledge), Te Kete weaves together the diverse strengths of our people and our special place in the world.
Our mission
We are Aotearoa New Zealand's university of technology and opportunity. We produce graduates with knowledge the world needs. Our graduates discover and apply knowledge with purpose, and work in partnership to accelerate our impact.
Our vision
Enriching lives and creating a better world through technology, learning and discovery.
Our values
Pono, tika and aroha.
Three outcomes
Te Kete sets out three outcomes we seek for a better world:
- Graduates the world needs
- Knowledge discovery and application with purpose
- Partnerships that accelerate impact
Seven strategic areas
Woven through these outcomes are seven strategic areas that shape our direction:
- Distinguishing ourselves as Aotearoa New Zealand's university of technology
- Being a world-ranked university of opportunity
- Committing to the significance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in Aotearoa New Zealand's history and future
- Making a unique and sustainable contribution to the world from our location in the Pacific
- Being student-centred
- Supporting our people
- Collectively building a values-based culture
Just as each strand in a kete is essential to its strength and beauty, so too are the strands of Te Kete. We recognise the value of each individual strand and understand the strength of our strategy lies in how the strands are woven together. Inspired by Te Kete Aronui, Te Kete is he koha ki te ao – a gift, a contribution to a better world that binds us together in a shared vision and mission.
Our values
Three values are at the heart of everything AUT does: pono, tika and aroha. They ground us in truth and shape every decision we make. Find out what that looks like in practice.
AUT VALUESAUT People Plan
At AUT, our people are the plan. Thriving People, Thriving Future – AUT’s People Plan – sets out how we develop, support and invest in our people through to 2030.
