Social and recreational sport opportunities
Sport doesn’t have to mean trials, leagues or long-term commitment. Social and recreational sport is about turning up, staying active and having a good time while you’re at uni. There are many ways to get involved, whether you’re playing for fun, meeting new people or just looking for a break from study.
Pick‑up and play
Bring your friends and head over to Te Āhuru (WQ, City Campus) and the Sport & Fitness Centre stadium (AH, North Campus), where you can take part in weekly ‘pick-up and play’ games, including basketball, volleyball, futsal, badminton and more.
Community sport
Prefer something relaxed and regular? We run several community teams in the sub-football social 7-aside league. These teams run year-round and give you a consistent, low‑pressure way to keep playing football.
Campus Cup
Campus Cup brings social sport to campus. It offers organised recreational sports and short tournaments exclusively for students. Expect a rotating mix of sports like basketball, volleyball, netball, futsal, e‑sports and more. You can join as a team or sign up on your own – either way, it’s an easy way to play, connect and compete casually.
