Social movements are the instigator of institutional change. While research has looked at how social movements influence organisational practices there has been little attention given to the role of these social movements in encouraging better transparency through information disclosure.

In his seminar Professor Chris van Staden will present his paper, which investigates the influence of social movement organisations on multinational companies’ decision to voluntarily disclose information pertaining to their foreign operations on a country-by-country basis.
