Abstract:
Exploring the theory that the delivery of sports in a cultural context can act as a medium to strengthen the cultural identity of Māori living in urban-Auckland. To be carried out by evaluating an inter-iwi Māori sports event that was held on the North Shore in 2007 and 2008. Central to the research is the issue of sport and cultural identity, including identifying what cultural markers urban Māori use to describe themselves as being Māori.
