Applicants for these scholarships must:

  • Be enrolled full‐time at AUT at the time of application for the scholarship and will be enrolled full-time in either the second or third year of their studies at the time of entering the international exchange programme.
  • Demonstrate a satisfactory academic record normally with a minimum B grade average.

Be nominated or accepted for an international exchange by an AUT approved exchange partner.

AUT International Group is pleased to be able to offer a scholarship to enable students to undertake an international exchange at an AUT exchange partner university


The aim of the AUT Undergraduate International Exchange Scholarship is to support students when, due to financial circumstances, it would be difficult for them to undertake an exchange.

The tenure of this scholarship is for one semester.

How to apply

Application is through the AUT on-line scholarship application portal.



Applicants must upload to their application a written statement outlining:

  1. Which university the applicant has been nominated or accepted into and why they chose that university.
  2. How the international exchange experience will benefit the applicant.
  3. The financial circumstances that would make it difficult to undertake an overseas exchange.
  4. The applicant’s ability to fund the balance of the costs associated with the exchange if their application is successful (a one semester exchange generally incurs a cost of $10,000- $12,000 depending on the destination).

Applicants must nominate two referees through the portal and send the email request to provide a reference statement through the portal.


Recipients will be selected by a panel comprising representatives nominated by the Director AUT International.


All applicants will be notified of the outcome by the AUT Scholarships Office.


Recipients must write a report and submit the report to the Associate Director Operations and Partnerships, AUT International Group on their exchange experience and the outcomes from it within one month of the completion of their exchange.

Other information

There are up to ten AUT Undergraduate International Exchange Scholarships offered for an exchange in Semester 2, 2024.

The scholarship consists of $2,500 for each recipient to be used to support the travel and accommodation costs associated with their approved international exchange.

The award will not be paid to the recipient until confirmation of flights is received by the University Scholarships Office.

Recipients must complete the exchange as approved.  If the exchange does not proceed the full value of the scholarship must be repaid to the university.
