China Scholarship Council (CSC) scholarships
Students from China who want to study at AUT
High achieving students from China are encouraged to study for their PhD at Auckland University of Technology (AUT) through a collaborative agreement with China Scholarship Council (CSC).
The programme aims to encourage research co-operation between AUT and Chinese universities. Students who receive a scholarship are provided with a living allowance as prescribed by the Chinese government for the term of the scholarship, return airfare to New Zealand by the most economical route, student visa fees, and the cost of health insurance for international students.
These scholarships are available for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme only and are available for up to four years.

Applying for this scholarship
At the time of application for study of the Doctor of Philosophy at AUT, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Meet the eligibility requirements established by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) for the AUT–CSC Joint PhD Programme.
- Be awarded a CSC scholarship under the AUT–CSC Joint PhD Programme before commencing their application to doctoral studies at AUT.
- Scholarships awarded by the CSC outside the AUT–CSC Joint PhD Programme are not eligible for reciprocal funding support from AUT.

Applying for a PhD at AUT
- Apply online for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme.
- Upload a copy of the Letter of Confirmation from the CSC on the success of being awarded a scholarship with your PhD application;
- If AUT determines you are a suitable candidate, we will assist with finding a supervisor.
