Jackson Clince

Principal Podiatrist & Director, JC Podiatry Limited
Bachelor of Health Science (Podiatry)

For podiatry graduate Jackson Clince, the mission is simple: to provide the best lower limb healthcare within the Manawatu region.

“I’m the director and principal podiatrist at JC Podiatry Limited, and my work involves building strong relationships and rapport with patients, providing them with the best lower limb care options available and returning them to the activities they love.

“My role involves incorporating sports medicine, injury management, diabetic foot care, aged care, skin and nail care, and a wide variety of other best practice options. We’re using the most up-to-date treatment protocols, attention to detail, and bringing humour and professionalism to our organisation, industry and community.”

Finding his path
He has always had a passion for sport and wellbeing, Jackson says.

“When I dislocated and fractured my own lower limb, with four surgeries for good measure, this pointed me towards a career in podiatry as I wanted to help and provide the best lower limb healthcare to those in similar situations as I found myself in. This hadn’t been a career choice I had given much thought to until someone mentioned, ‘Why don’t you look into podiatry?’.”

He has some great advice for other students who are still unsure what their own future may hold.

“Don’t knock something until you try it; it could be the best career choice you ever make.”

Memories of AUT
Jackson, who completed his podiatry degree in 2018, still has many fond memories of his time at AUT.

“For me, the highlights at AUT included the podiatry camp in my first year, making lifelong friends and getting to apply the knowledge we learned in lectures from day one. My studies at AUT provided the foundation for the clinical skill base and knowledge I have today. I’m also proud of receiving an AUT Blue Award while I was at AUT, which recognised my commitment to playing AFL in addition to my studies.”

There are a few staff members who had a particular impact on him.

“Dr Daniel Porrat’s professionalism and meticulous attention to detail was something I admired, and it pushed me to get the best out myself. I still use his meticulous setup for procedures to this day. I also admired Megan Catterall for her communication skills, relationship building and ability to use humour and professionalism all in one. I wanted to bring this to my own clinical skillset. Even today, I still remember her philosophy, ‘If it’s not in your notes, then it didn’t happen’.”
