Meet potential employers coming to AUT to connect with students and graduates. Find out about internships and graduate programmes and roles, and learn more about what it’s like to work at a particular organisation.
The community and public sector represent a diverse range of organisations across governmental, not-for-profit and commercial entities. They provide many of the essential services within New Zealand and are keen to interact with people who are interested in people, communities and societies, and have a genuine interest and understanding of the complexities of their work environments.
Run on campus annually by AUT’s Employability and Careers team, this career expo is a stress-free way for students to mix and network with employers. Students from all majors and subjects are welcome at the Community and Public Sector Career Expo.
When: Wednesday 30 July, 11am-1pm
Where: WG Building, City Campus
Information about how to register for this event will be added here soon.

“We are interested in graduates with degrees in social science, criminology, and psychology as well as HR and management, who can help with the provision of wraparound housing and social services. Students were really interested in finding out more about us, which was great.”
Luisa Seleti
Key Worker, Lifewise
“Although traditionally we have looked for maths and computer science graduates, nowadays we also look at qualifications like law, social science, criminology and others. What you do need is a real interest in data, analytics and/or research.”
Karen Martin-Bond
Senior Advisor, Statistics NZ
“I went to talk to Police, Ministry of Justice and MOE to see what kind of roles they can offer, for placements as well as jobs. It was great to have a chance to really talk to them.”
Johnny Sanft
Student, Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice
“I was pleased to hear of roles such as support worker and community support worker and the graduate programme at Auckland Council. A lot of people were encouraging about starting at entry level and moving into more specialised roles in the organisation.”
Ria Chhatwai
Student, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Criminology
