Tickets and seating for graduation
Bringing your people along? Here’s how AUT graduation tickets work and where your friends and whānau will be seated on the day.
Getting graduation tickets
- You (the graduand) don’t need a ticket for yourself – just your guests
- Each guest needs their own ticket to enter the venue
- Graduation tickets are free
- If you're graduating in person, you’ll be guaranteed a set number of tickets. We’ll confirm how many closer to the day
- Guest tickets are managed by Ticketmaster, not the AUT Graduation Office. You'll need a Ticketmaster account to claim your tickets – you can create one ahead of time
- When tickets become available, you'll get an email from the AUT Graduation Office with instructions on how to claim your guest tickets through Ticketmaster. It’s a good idea to claim your tickets as soon as they're released – any unclaimed tickets will be made available to other graduates on the day
- Depending on the number of tickets claimed, the number of graduands and the capacity of the venue, extra tickets may be released. If that happens, we’ll email you about how to request them
- For accessibility ticket requests, please contact Ticketmaster directly
Transferring tickets to your guests
Your guests must have their tickets before the event. Refer to Ticketmaster for instructions on how to transfer tickets to your guests. Please note that screenshots of tickets are not accepted for entry.
Graduation venues
AUT graduation ceremonies are held at one of two venues – Aotea Centre or Spark Arena.
- Aotea Centre visitor information can be found on the Auckland Live website, and accessibility information is available on their accessibility page.
- Spark Arena visitor information can be found on their website, and accessibility information is available on their accessibility page.
Who sits where?
- To keep everything running smoothly, graduands and guests are seated separately during the graduation ceremony
- Graduands will register and assemble in a designated space. This area is for graduands only – children and whānau members are not allowed to come in
- Guests enter the auditorium separately and must have their tickets ready. Make sure they arrive at least 30 minutes before doors close
- Whānau members or children can’t accompany you across the stage
When should you arrive and register?
- Registration opens 30 minutes before doors close
- You’ll receive your unique QR code a few weeks before your ceremony – bring it with you to register on the day
- Ceremonies usually run for around 1½ to 2 hours
Need assistance on the day?
If you need help on graduation day – for example, you can’t walk up the stairs to the stage or you need special seating at the ceremony – let the graduation team know ahead of time so they can help make it work.
