The company behind a new device giving hayfever sufferers relief has become AUT’s most successful hardware spinout to date in terms of sales.
AUT Ventures holds an 8.5% share in Goodair® Nosebuds, and, through the AUT Innovation Fund, has also invested in My Better Breathing’s latest private capital raise.
Developed from years of research led by former AUT researcher Dr. David White, Nosebuds are small devices worn just inside the nose.
By subtly altering airflow, they create a gentle hum that stimulates the nasal passages, helping to clear mucus, reduce congestion, and improve airflow.
Nasal congestion is an everyday struggle for many, and with spring now here, hayfever only makes matters worse.
Recognising the life-changing potential for people who experience respiratory problems, AUT Ventures appointed CEO Kerri McMaster in 2022 to bring Nosebuds to the public.
Fast forward to today: Goodair® Nosebuds launched in early September, and the public response has been nothing short of extraordinary.
This momentum was supercharged by a feature on TVNZ’s Seven Sharp introducing the device.
Within just ten minutes of airing, the Nosebuds generated an impressive $50K in sales.
Dr. White acknowledged that the look and feel of Nosebuds might seem unusual for new users at first.
“When headphones were invented, putting something over your ears seemed a bit alien.
“Now it’s one of the most common things to do. Nosebuds are the same – an evolution of wearables.”
