AUT joins forces with Fisher & Paykel Healthcare

Vice-Chancellor Professor Damon Salesa formalised AUT’s highly valued partnership with Fisher & Paykel Healthcare at a special ceremony held at City Campus last week.

Professor Salesa signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Fisher & Paykel Healthcare’s Andrew Somervell, Vice President - Products & Technology, to strengthen the relationship, and support further collaboration.

AUT is renowned for being a place of excellence and academic learning that is underpinned by real-world skills and experiences, as emphasised by its new brand positioning, Knowledge That Works.

More than 90% of bachelor graduates complete valuable work experience at the trusted organisations AUT partners with, as part of their degree.

Professor Salesa expressed his deep gratitude for the generous support of Fisher & Paykel Healthcare as he recognised the start of a new phase of collaboration with Somervell and his colleagues.

“Fisher & Paykel Healthcare has always been a future-focussed and innovative brand, committed to excellence, valuing strong relationships, and sharing our purpose-driven approach.”

“It’s an honour to formalise this collaboration as we work together to ensure AUT graduates gain the practical experiences they need to thrive and make an impact in today’s tech-driven world.

“We look forward to strengthening relationships, advancing research and developing innovative products together, while remaining deeply grateful for the support of this respected New Zealand-based conglomerate and all our collaborators at AUT.”

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare is a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of products and systems for use in acute and chronic respiratory care, surgery and the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea.

Since joining Fisher & Paykel Healthcare in 2006, Somervell has managed research and development, marketing, clinical, manufacturing, and aspects of the supply chain.

“At Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, we know that collaboration is key to advancing new technologies and improving patient outcomes,” said Somervell.

“Formalising our partnership with AUT allows us to bring together academic expertise and industry experience, fostering innovation through the sharing of ideas. Together, we hope to accelerate solutions that make a positive difference.”
