AUT alumna Maria Gill – who completed a Master of Creative Writing with Honours in 2020 – is the author of A Flame in the Dark, a young adult historical novel about WWII resistance fighter Nancy Wake.
The book originated as Maria’s master’s thesis during her studies and is her first novel for young adult readers.
She is also the author of over 60 children’s nonfiction titles. Maria says her postgraduate study gave her the confidence to expand into long-form narrative fiction.
