PhD alumna and clinical biotechnologist Dr Caroline Oliver received a New Zealand Order of Merit for her groundbreaking approach to cancer treatment.

Her work for Kode Biotech, in collaboration with AUT, has led to the development of a molecule that coats cancer cells, making them targets for antibodies and starting an immune system attack, which destroys the tumours.

"There will be no need for chemotherapy, no surgery, it is hugely disruptive technology, and it could change a lot of lives,” Caroline says.
