AUT Law School’s Dr Adrienne Paul (Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Tūwharetoa ki Kawerau, Te Arawa ki Maketu and Ngai Tūhoe) has joined the Aotearoa Marine Carbon Forum (AMCF), which provides independent, science-based information about marine carbon dioxide removal.
The forum has support from the New Zealand National Commission of UNESCO. The AMCF is a project under the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and endorsed by the Ocean Visions GEOS (Global Ecosystem for Ocean Solutions) Programme.
Adrienne is internationally recognised for her expertise in Māori marine legal and policy. Her contribution will anchor AMCF in recognising how important the realm of Tangaroa (God of a sea) and Hinemoana (Mother of the oceans) is to Māori by developing a marine carbon strategy for Aotearoa.
