Tourism grad takes her skills to Brazil

During her studies, Bachelor of International Tourism Management alumna Anna Rowlands took advantage of an international work opportunity.

Anna spent her final-year work placement for the Tourism Integrated Learning paper – the workplace experience tourism students complete in their third year at AUT – at Latino Australia Education (LAE) in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

LAE, an international study abroad agency, focuses on assisting international students looking to study in Australia, New Zealand and partner destinations.

The semester-long opportunity enabled Anna to gain international experience in the tourism sector and experience life as a tourist in a new country.

“My time at LAE was absolutely amazing. I worked on a project that was beneficial to the Brazilian and New Zealand tourism markets” she says.

“As a rural Cantabrian, my time in Brazil also really opened my eyes to so much in terms of social norms, the sheer amount of diversity around me and the benefits that this poses to society.”

Now back in Aotearoa, Anna has completed her AUT tourism degree and secured a full-time role with Seasonz Luxury Travel in Auckland, which specialises in creating high-end unique travel packages for tourists visiting the South Pacific.
