If your English is at an intermediate level or above, you can study English language and enrol in an academic IELTS preparation course or GIE course at the School of Communication Studies at AUT in Auckland’s central business district. You can progress through these courses to prepare yourself for studying AUT university programmes.
These English language courses have fixed start and finish dates.
To enrol you need to be at least 18 years of age.
The GIE programme prepares you for entry into most AUT programmes (some health and education programmes require IELTS). You still need to meet the other academic entry requirements for the AUT programme you apply for.
GIE covers academic English, research and study skills, and language skills.

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an internationally standardised test of English language proficiency. This academic programme develops your English language skills for the IELTS exam and your study skills for academic study ay university. You can progress through the different levels.
We offer IELTS preparation courses at 2 levels so that you are placed in a class at your level.
