What does it mean to build a university for a nation?
Join Dr Giulio Masasso Tu'ikolongahau Pāunga, Vice-Chancellor of Tonga National University, for a public conversation exploring the vision behind Tonga's newest university and its role in shaping the country's future.
Established in 2023, Tonga National University marks a significant milestone in Tonga's educational journey. Dr Pāunga will share insights into building a new national institution, reflecting on leadership, educational transformation and the role universities play in strengthening identity, cultural resilience and long-term development.
Facilitated by Professor Damon Salesa, Vice-Chancellor of AUT, this conversation offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from the leader of one of the Pacific's newest universities and explore how higher education can help shape the future of Pacific nations.
The event is open to members of the Tongan and wider Pacific communities, as well as anyone with an interest in leadership, education, culture and public life.
