From sketching in a spherical perspective to producing an interactive VR panorama. This workshop introduces participants to the fundamental techniques of creating handmade spherical drawings using equirectangular projection on paper and demonstrates how to transform these drawings into interactive 360-degree panoramas viewable on computers, smart devices or VR viewers.

The session combines theory and practice: participants will first explore the principles of spherical perspective and learn how to represent space within an equirectangular projection, followed by a hands-on exercise in drawing a 360° scene from life. The workshop takes inspiration from the See the Invisible concept, using it as both a creative framework and a platform for applied experimentation.

AUT hosts international ‘See the Invisible’ exhibition

AUT is proud to host 'See the Invisible', an international art-based research programme by Italian artist Chiara Masiero Sgrinzatto, exploring the unseen dimensions of cities, their myths, memories, and metaphors. Presented alongside the GDI Conference 2025, the exhibition merges the physical and mythical layers of urban spaces, revealing the invisible stories that shape how we experience cities.

By highlighting perspectives often absent from conventional city-design processes, See the Invisible invites audiences to question what – and who – transforms a city into a living myth.
