Rainbow Research Seminar: Heated Rivalry – Queer Masculinities in Sports

Sports, including rugby and hockey, have historically been associated with forms of masculinity that privilege toughness, stoicism and heterosexual normativity.

This talk uses Heated Rivalry, archival evidence and material culture to consider the long history of queer men’s participation in sport, queer masculinity and the significance of queer male visibility in sports.
