Public talk: Georgie Hill & Nina Dyer in conversation

Hear Tāmaki Makaurau-based painter Georgie Hill in conversation with guest curator Nina Dyer. Together they will discuss the formal and conceptual synergies between Hill’s and Baik’s respective practices, which lead to the exhibition Melter of Limbs. In addition, the talk provides a unique opportunity to hear Hill reflect upon the material processes and experimental writing that inform her practice.

Georgie Hill is a painter who lives and works in Tāmaki Makaurau. She holds a BFA from the Elam School of Fine Arts and an MFA from Whitecliffe. Recent exhibitions include Sirens (Superpartner, 2024) and Venus Marina / The Roses Came Roaring (Sumer, 2023). Hill has been the recipient of several awards and residencies, including the Olivia Spencer Bower Foundation Art Award (2011), the C Art Trust Award (2019), and the Youkobo Art Space residency in Tokyo (2020).

Nina Dyer is a curator and writer based in Tāmaki Makaurau. She is currently Kairuruku Whare Toi | Exhibitions Manager at Gus Fisher Gallery, University of Auckland. Until recently she was a long-term collective member of artist-run space RM and a Commissioning Editor of Vernacular Criticism. She has curated several freelance exhibitions at galleries across Aotearoa, including Ilam Campus Gallery, DEMO, and MEANWHILE, and her writing has been published by The Art Paper, Aotearoa Digital Arts Network, and Art News Aotearoa.
