The Postgraduate Research Symposium provides an opportunity for AUT postgraduate research students to take part in the abstract review process, and to showcase and present their research to their friends, family and peers.
Join us in celebrating our amazing postgraduate students and the impressive research they perform! This event will take place on the North Campus on Thursday 11 September 2025 as part of Research Week.
The day will begin with a keynote address by Dr Balakrishnan Nair, followed by oral presentations, creative exhibitions, and poster presentations by postgraduate research students.
All are welcome! Refreshments will be served at this event.

Keynote address

The keynote address is titled, “Turning Ideas into Impact: A Stroke of Innovation” and will be delivered by Dr Balakrishnan (Bala) Nair.
Bala is a public health scientist, digital health strategist and AUT PhD graduate. He is the founder and CEO of PreventS-MD, a healthtech startup delivering stroke and cardiovascular prevention tools across multiple countries.
Celebrating AUT’s 25th anniversary


As a special celebration in alignment with AUT’s 25th anniversary and the Auckland Medical Research Foundation's 70th anniversary, the Auckland Medical Research Foundation is sponsoring 2 x $2500 travel grants as prizes for the 2025 Postgraduate Research Symposium.
These generous prizes will be awarded to the winner of the Best Abstract Award and the winner of the Best Poster Presentation.
