In 2025, the Auckland Medical Research Foundation proudly marks 70 years of funding groundbreaking medical research and the awarding of over $100,000,000 to dedicated medical and health science researchers.
In this second event of our 70th anniversary year, we are hosting three outstanding researchers.
Professor John Windsor is a scientist, entrepreneur and leader, specialising in the pancreas and pancreatic surgery. John will share highlights of his career and show how new approaches have been developed through combining basic, clinical and bioengineering science to prevent multiple organ failure, the leading cause of death from acute pancreatitis.
This pair of distinguished researchers are experts in palliative care and the End-of-Life Choice Act 2019. Rosemary’s research career has focused on how to reduce suffering at the end of life and seeks to empower teams delivering this service with the knowledge and confidence to deliver a quality palliative care experience. Gary specialises in old-age psychiatry and will present his research into increasing understanding of all factors influencing a person’s experience as they near their final days of life, along with the complexities of assisted dying.
