Language regression in Healthcare 12/04/2025 17:00 12/04/2025 18:30 As part of the Dutch Language Weekend initiative, this panel discussion will explore two sides of language loss: older immigrants with dementia reverting to the AUT City Campus, WG Building, Room 404, Auckland , New Zealand

As part of the Dutch Language Weekend initiative, this panel discussion will explore two sides of language loss: older immigrants with dementia reverting to their first language, and others gradually losing their mother tongue across generations.

Both perspectives highlight the importance of multilingualism and heritage language preservation. The Dutch-speaking diaspora in New Zealand serves as an example.

This event is hosted by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and moderated by Ineke Crezee, ONZM, RN, PhD, Professor translation and interpreting at AUT.

The panel discussion will be followed by drinks hosted by the Dutch Ambassador.
