The Pacific Tourism Data Initiative is a long-term research project that aims to collect data for decision-making on tourism matters in the Pacific. International visitors, tourism operators and community members have been surveyed for over a decade on their perceptions, concerns and attitudes about tourism.

With multiple funders supporting countryspecific data collection in eight Pacific nations, this project is an ambitious example of how research can balance a wide reach with local nuance to enhance economic development.
