About our faculty
Our new Faculty of Society and Business brings together two of AUT's well-established academic communities – Business, Economics and Law and Culture and Society – into a single faculty with real breadth and scale.
It's new. Its culture and direction are still being set. If you want to shape something significant, this is where to do it.
Built for collaboration
The connections across disciplines in this new faculty – ethics, public policy, social responsibility, culture, enterprise and community – are already there. Bringing them under one roof creates the scale to act on them: in research, in teaching, in partnerships with industry, government, iwi and community organisations.
Disciplines that once sat separately can now combine to tackle the kinds of complex challenges no single field handles well alone – and build a reputation to match, nationally and internationally.
What it means for staff
For academic and professional staff, this new, larger and more integrated faculty opens up genuine opportunities – to collaborate across disciplines, to take on leadership roles, to develop professionally and to build a career across a wider range of roles, teams and activities than a smaller faculty could offer.
A more aligned structure means stronger collaboration and clearer decision-making across schools and disciplines – with planning, budgeting and operational functions all working together to support it.
