Certificate of Proficiency Fitness Instructing (on-campus teaching)

Gain the knowledge and practical skills to professionally assess client fitness to provide effective reassessment and programme prescriptions. This course focuses on the practical application of exercises, including cardiovascular, strength, and flexibility. You will develop applied skills in prescribing safe, effective and up-to-date exercise programmes.

Face-to-face on-campus teaching and learning

Students are required to attend class in person, on campus.

  • Assessment of blood pressure, body composition, endurance, aerobic fitness, and muscular strength
  • Exercise demonstration and spotting
  • Programming for cardiovascular/aerobic fitness, fitness and weight loss
  • Postural assessment and relative flexibility
  • Resistance training programming for strength and hypertrophy

Weekend dates: Saturday 8, Sunday 9, Saturday 15, Sunday 16, Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 August 2020 (lecture dates when students are required to attend class)
Times: 8.30am - 5.30pm approx. (once the paper starts you will be able to access the full time table)
Assessment: Monday 31 August 2020 – submit assessments online
Prerequisite Paper: Fitness Foundations SPEX402

When you have successfully completed Fitness Instructing you will receive a Certificate of Proficiency in Fitness Instructing.
