AUT law clubs
At AUT, you don’t just study law – you shape it. Our student-led law clubs and societies are where ambition meets action. Supported by AUTSA (AUT Student Association) and the AUT Law School, these groups give you real opportunities to build networks, sharpen skills and explore what a legal career can look like beyond the classroom.
Whether you’re mooting in front of a panel, negotiating under pressure or interviewing a client in a simulated setting, these experiences help you build confidence, sharpen your thinking and stand out when it counts.
What law student clubs do
- Organising competitions in mooting, client interviewing, negotiation and witness examination
- Partnering with law firms and organisations for sponsorships, prizes and events
- Hosting networking events where students can meet alumni and law professionals
- Organising social activities
- Making sure the voices of all law students are represented in study and student life
AUT law clubs you can join
- AUT Law Students’ Society (AUTLSS)

Why get involved?
Because it works. Joining a law club means gaining experience that counts. You’ll build confidence, lead teams and learn from legal professionals who’ve been where you’re heading. It’s a chance to grow your legal mindset and be part of a community that’s driven, inclusive and ready for what’s next.
You’ll also have the chance to represent AUT at national and international competitions – and many of our students do just that.

Study law at AUT
Law is how you stand up for what’s right – and bring others with you. At AUT, you’ll study in one of the country’s most diverse law schools, in small, collaborative classes where your ideas are heard and sharpened.
