The Paramedic Assessment for Registration course is delivered in conjunction with Te Kaunihera Manapou (Paramedic Council) New Zealand. You can do this assessment programme if you are eligible under pathway C for registration as a paramedic.
This course is primarily aimed at the prehospital emergency services including extended or intensive care paramedics, paramedics and EMTs that have completed a recognised paramedic or equivalent qualification.
You have been referred by Te Kaunihera Manapou (Paramedic Council) New Zealand under pathway C to complete this course which will enable your eligibility for registration as a paramedic in New Zealand.
This course has been co-designed and run with Whitireia Community Polytechnic. The course will assess your suitability against Te Kaunihera Manapou (Paramedic Council) New Zealand domains of practice.
The course should take approximately 32 hours of online learning and an 8 hours of in-person practical scenarios, OSCEs and assessment. Extensive pre-learning through the AUT Canvas learning management system will facilitate content required for successful completion.
You will have 2 months to complete the online learning, prior to attending your in-person session.
There are five domains associated with the standards of clinical competence. Each domain comprises a list of statements that identify the scope of competencies a paramedic must demonstrate for that domain.
