Work environment

  • Usually work regular business hours but may work evenings or weekends
  • Usually work in hospitals, psychiatric services, rehabilitation clinics and private practices

  • Carry out mental performance tests
  • Develop treatment plans for clients
  • Provide behavioural and other therapy
  • Help clients understand themselves
  • Observe behaviour and emotional responses
  • Support self-development and problem solving
  • Advise on managing stress and emotions
  • Monitor progress and adjust treatments
  • Keep records of assessments and therapies
