Course levels

Specific subject requirements/restrictions

Students applying to Swinburne can select units from across the available schools, provided this has been approved by the academic team at AUT. Please check the essentials table above to see which study areas are included in our exchange agreement.

To help limit timetable clashes, it is advisable to take the majority of your modules within one Academic School. Use their ‘Choosing your subjects’ webpage to search either by individual unit or by course to find what is available.

Course codes indicate which year the unit typically takes place in. The first three letters relate to the programme, and the first number after these letters denotes the course level, eg ‘ANI20006 – Dynamics for Games and Animation’ is from the Animation department and is a Level 2 (second year) course.

It’s recommended that students list at least six units on the application form, in order of preference. Pre-requisites need to be carefully checked.

If applying for a Design or a Film and TV Unit, a portfolio is needed along with the application.

Swinburne are one of the few exchange partners with a dedicated Indigenous Studies major. If you are interested in learning more about Indigenous Australian peoples and cultures, these units are also available for incoming exchange students.
