Why I chose my host uni:

I chose Nanyang Technological University for its high level of academic excellence. Singapore is in the middle of many Asian countries, and is known for its safety and the respectful culture of the country.

How I found applying to my host uni:

Applying was straightforward as long as you followed all the instructions. I needed an EForm 16 (application for a student pass/immigration) and an ICA document (application for a student pass). The visa process went smoothly.

How I found learning in a different academic system:

Put time and effort into it, and it can only get easier after a while. #cheesybutreal

What I gained from this experience:

I gained open mindedness and a ‘I can do it’ mindset, as well as the humility to listen, observe and not judge the difference between me and others.

Top tips for other students

  1. Join as many clubs as you like
  2. Take the initiative to introduce yourself, especially during the first weeks
  3. Smile
  4. Look for hawker centres (food courts) with plenty of cheap and delicious food options
  5. Join WhatsApp or Telegram where exchange students who are moving away sell and give their stuff away
