To be eligible for the AUT Student Exchange programme, you must:

AUT has two semesters each year, so you need to decide when you would like to spend your student exchange semester in New Zealand.

When to apply to come to AUT on a student exchange

Semester 1 (February to June)
Apply by 15 October in the previous year

Semester 2 (July to November)
Apply by 1 April

Prepare your documents

During your application to us you’ll need to upload a few documents, so make sure you have them ready before you start applying.

Documents you need for your application

  • Your passport or birth certificate (and an official English translation if applicable)
  • A current copy of your university academic transcript
  • English language test results (if applicable)

Stages of application

  • Apply to your home institution’s student exchange programme for outbound students
  • If successful, they will nominate you to the AUT Student Exchange team
  • We contact you to invite you to apply directly to us
  • Our Admissions team will assess your application and contact you directly with the outcome or a request for further information
  • Once you have an offer of place, it’s time for your next steps to get ready for studying in New Zealand
