TV and video production studios

Our TV and video production studios provide students with industry-standard equipment to develop their skills in broadcasting, cinematography, video production and more. From lighting workshops and green screen experience to single-camera classes, our studios are designed to give students practical experience that prepares them for professional media careers.

Screen Production Studio

The Screen Production Studio, located in the WG building on level 2, can be used for creating live and recorded video productions. It is where you’ll simulate a live broadcast environment and learn to perform specialised studio roles. The studio is split into two working spaces – the studio floor itself and the control room.
The studio includes:

  • Three roaming broadcast-quality cameras
  • Software-controlled lighting and an extensive overhead lighting grid
  • A fully equipped control room and sound room
  • A cyclorama wall that can be used for chromakeying
  • A control room with live video and audio feeds, where a separate team can control audio and visual output, cut between cameras, run pre-recorded items and overlay graphics with a vision switcher.

Practice Studio

The Practice Studio is where our single-camera classes are run. It has a high ceiling, black curtains and soundproofing – making it ideal for shooting single-camera interviews and controlled lighting setups. It's where we hold classes in creative documentary and short film production, and more advanced cinematography and lighting workshops.

Green Screen/Chromakey Studio

Our Chromakey Studio gives you an industry-quality green screen experience. Classes use the facility to learn how to shoot and create special effects. You can use the studio to complete assignments or create your own content.
