Typical tasks
- Build and maintain respectful relationships with whānau and the community to support the ākonga achievement
- Plan and develop a range of learning activities, techniques and resources to support the schools’ education programme and the learning styles of ākonga
- Support the spiritual, mental, relational and physical development of the ākonga through learning activities
- Teach in te reo Māori and apply tikanga Māori
- Teach people cultural activities like karakia, waiata, mihimihi and kapa haka to support the schools education programme
- Assess ākonga abilities and interests to plan to their needs
- Monitor learning activities and record development of ākonga progress and achievements
- Understand and support the school’s values and systems
- Continue to grow knowledge and skills in teaching practices and resources
